Hi, hello, hey!
I've been thinking about how to come back, what I should write, how to reconnect, and the best conclusion is by writing to you again. Despite all the great feedback I received by writing this newsletter, my thoughts made me go in the opposite direction. Tricky, right? I needed some time off to deeply understand my impostor syndrome, a whole topic I will share more about later. For now, please allow me to re-introduce myself.
I'm Marina Marques, a woman not made for small talks (let's get deeeep). Also a writer, advocate for equality and inclusion, speaker, content creator, overthinker, people watcher, and wannabe (great) chef. I'm sorry, but it's impossible to describe myself as only one thing. Human beings are complex and beyond their daily work, composed of different kinds of layers.
Everything in my path was built to take me here, the desire to create collective conversations, so we reflect and evolve together. My marketing, consulting, and consumer behavior background made me realize that my real passion is communication, which I should have known before as a Latina. After all, I never runway from a positive confrontational conversation with a pinch of drama.
Anyway, welcome back to a new cycle now officially entitled:
Let's GLOOW.
Let's GLOOW is an unapologetic newsletter about life dilemmas. To be specific, being unapologetic is to be a person who speaks their mind and defends their values with confidence, in a comfortable way by embracing both their flaws and strength.
Life is all about conversations, people, and experiences; the goal here is to write about the great, the bad, and the ugly dilemmas that happen in life and, especially, inside our heads. You can expect a lot of food for thought and that particular feeling after a long talk with a loved one followed by a big hug.
This newsletter diary-like essays will often be filled with unfiltered thoughts, plus curated internet finds worth sharing (you may like it too). And guest writers with a lot to add to diversify our insights.
During my time off, I reflected that regret is worse than embarrassment, which convinced me to have the courage to come back. Your thoughts create your life. You need to force yourself to think positive sometimes. I created this platform to inspire and feel inspired by you.
Remember, the best version of ourselves is what we have today.
Life is about the small steps and choices you make daily. Stop chasing the unreal perfection.
As Moulin Rouge taught me: the show must go on and it's good to have you here.
Forehead kisses. See you next Friday!
